Volleyball England is now looking for applications for the prestigious ‘Club of the Year’ award. The accolade gives clubs the opportunity to get recognition for the hard work they have put in over the past 12 months and financially rewards those clubs who are runners up and indeed, win the title.
The main criteria for the award are:
1. Opportunities for participation, coaching, competition and player development.
2. The recruitment and development of new club members with regards to players, coaches, officials and volunteers.
3. Club policy on safety, good practice, child and adult welfare and governance.
4. The accessibility of the club to all sections of the community regardless of gender, race, age and income.
5. How the club links with schools, youth organisations, local service providers, businesses and local authorities.
6. How the club would use the money if the application was successful.
This year the top prize is £700, with 3 runners-up all receiving £200.
Volleyball England will also be looking to endorse applicants for the acclaimed CCPR ‘Sports Club of the Year 2008’ awards. This award is open to all sports clubs nationwide, rewarding exceptional effort and hard work in the development of their sport in the community, through the club’s activities and provision. The first prize is worth £6000, with £3000 for two runners-up and three £1000 prizes for highly commended clubs.
Volleyball was first recognised at the CCPR awards in 2006 by Newcastle (Staffs) who picked up a highly commended club award and in 2007 Newbury VC (pictured) came in the top three, receiving an award for £3000. Making the shortlist means you’ll be invited to the glitzy awards ceremony with top speakers who will present the awards. Last year Sir Bobby Charlton presented Newbury with their award, ensuring the night was a memorable success.
Volleyball England’s Club of the Year Award will be presented at the 2008 Awards Evening which will be held on Saturday 17th January at Kettering Conference Centre.
Any affiliated club can enter and the application form covers both the Volleyball England and CCPR awards, with the top three candidates being endorsed by Volleyball England to go forward into the CCPR awards.
The application form should be completed and returned to:
