Promotional Award 2008

The Promotional Award is designed to recognise the growing efforts of clubs around the country in their promotion of the sport within their communities. The award will provide a platform to share ideas and best practice between clubs, highlighting the reach that Volleyball enjoys.

The Promotional award for 2007-08 season will have one category for all affiliated clubs to enter and the criteria is broken down into:

  • Promotion Strategy: what the club has set out to do over the 2007-08 season. 
  • Match Day & Club Event Promotion: how the club publicises its activities and helps promote the sport. 
  • Match & Club Reporting: how the club follows up its events and matches both to its members and the wider community
  • Website: how this functions within the club, promotes the sport and the club. 
  • Club: how the sport is promoted amongst members, supporters, parents and partners.

Award: the winners of this year’s award will receive £300 with two runners up, eligible to win £100.

To enter, download the criteria and entry form here, and send in a folder with the specified material and evidence by Monday 28th April 2008.

Last Years Winners

In 2007, the Promotional Award was launched with two categories, one for NVL Clubs and Non-NVL Clubs. Due to the high quality entries received, for 2008 just one category will be open for entries.

NVL Promotional Award 2007

Winners: Newcastle (Staffs) Volleyball Club

Newcastle (Staffs) exemplified advanced promotion of the sport within their community, obtaining good attendances to home matches and events as well as regular communications with all those involved with the club as well as wider partners and the media. With a commitment to promoting junior volleyball and work within the community, the club were worthy winners of the award.

Runners Up: London Docklands

London Docklands had an impressive and clear website, with advanced reporting capacity and regular updates from around the club available.

Runners Up: City of Bristol

With numerous events run in and around the club, City of Bristol showed a coordinated effort working with numerous partners and the local media to promote the sport.

Non-NVL

Winners: Wimbledon VC

Wimbledon VC exhibited a professional brand, a commitment to wider promotion of their club at events they attended and had a lively website available. Working well with local media, the club were able to show off reports published and ongoing commitment to their promotional plan making them first choice for the top accolade.

Marske VC showed promotion of their development as a club, gaining great coverage of their Accreditation and development in the local press as well as regular communications with their members.

Consistent e-newsletters, increased promotion of events and junior tournaments, Richmond showed off how they had promoted the sport and junior development over the year.
