Volunteer Co-Ordinator

Become a Club Volunteer Co-ordinator and be part of the Volunteer Co-ordinator Network making volleyball stronger

National Finals Volunteers

Most volleyball clubs will have at least a chairperson, treasurer and a secretary.  99% of these roles and others, are undertaken in clubs by volunteers - but who looks after the volunteers??

Having a designated person – a Volunteer Co-ordinator, looking after volunteer management and support can bring enormous benefits to your club.

How does this sound….

  • An increase in the number of people volunteering/helping out at your club/association.
  • Having someone to act as a representative for volunteers at your club/association.
  • Having a co-ordinated approach to volunteering, ensuring that peoples time and energy is used effectively and work is not duplicated.
  • Having the club/association workload spread across a variety of people, and not just loaded onto a few individuals.
  • Having clearer communication channels with the club/association as well as with the EVA National Office.
  • Improved motivation of your volunteers.
  • More people wanting to be involved and help out on their own accord.
  • Ultimately a stronger more sustainable club/association.

The volunteer co-ordinator will serve as a stimulus in making the above become reality and make a real difference to your club/association.

So what does a Volunteer Co-ordinator do?

The role of the volunteer co-ordinator will vary from club to club, but the main purpose of the volunteer co-ordinator is to act as a focal point for volunteers and volunteering within the club/association.

With the assistance of other members within the club, the volunteer co-ordinator could be involved with any of the following:

  • Recruitment of volunteers into the club
  • Provide support to new and existing volunteers
  • Match the right volunteers to the right club roles
  • Organise relevant training/workshops for volunteers
  • Make links with volunteer organisations and programmes such as the local Volunteer Centre, Step into Sport and Millennium Volunteers
  • Help to raise the profile of volunteers and volunteering within the club
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers and provide feedback on their role(s)
  • Promote recognition of volunteers e.g. presenting an award or organising an event
  • Be the contact person for volunteers and volunteering matters
  • Thank/reward volunteers
