Coaches

This year the main theme of the National Coaches Conference will be individual junior player development, with specific sessions aimed at coaching young beginners and progressing the coach’s experience of taking a team to regional level. The morning session will be on developing fundamentals, postural control and general ball handling skills with a strong emphasis on cognitive development.

The afternoon will focus on the delivery of the LPV scheme for the development of the game from 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 adapted mini games. An eminent European coach with experience in junior development will deliver this session and there will be many opportunities to practice or indeed watch young players being coached. There will be specific break-out sessions following the main presentation that will focus on these key stage developments and their impact upon the RTDP programme. The sessions are aimed at all coaches and tutors and reflect a change in emphasis in the new UKCC Level 1 Volleyball Coaches Award. All tutors who have intentions to deliver on the new award structure are required to attend as part of their continuing professional development which is one of the many requirements to maintain status as a recognised tutor.
