Volleyball England launches new Safeguarding Adults Policy

Volleyball England launches new Safeguarding Adults Policy

Volleyball England has today launched a new Safeguarding Adults Policy that demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to keeping everyone in the sport safe.

It will sit alongside the existing Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy – and both should be adopted by all members of Volleyball’s communities.

The policy and procedures can be found on our new dedicated website page by clicking here

The document, along with reporting a concern procedures and guidance document to support adults at risk, is particularly useful for Club Welfare Officers.

However, all people involved in the sport should be aware of:

  • The legislation, policy, and procedures for safeguarding adults.
  • Their role and responsibility for safeguarding adults.
  • What to do or who to speak to if they have a concern relating to the welfare or wellbeing of an adult within the organisation.

For clubs who don't currently have any safeguarding provision in place due to not having any juniors, this new policy will need to be adopted to support all adult members.

This needs to be in place alongside a Club Welfare Officer ahead of the new season. Further guidance will be sent directly to clubs and CWOs next week.

“Launching this policy, having it sit alongside our Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy, means we can keep everyone who participates in volleyball in any capacity safe and can enjoy the sport in a positive environment,” said Rob Payne, Volleyball England’s Lead Safeguarding Officer.
