    The UKCC Level 1 Award in Coaching Volleyball (QCF) is suitable for those who are new to coaching, but who have some knowledge of the game and would like to learn how to apply that in a coaching environment. The qualification allows coaches to act as assistant coaches - a role which gives them the opportunity to focus on their own development and gain experience whilst working with a coach who is already qualified at Level 2 or higher. 


    Course Duration

    The standard UKCC Level 1 is a three day course consisting of 3 modules and a final assessment. We also offer some four day courses consisting of the same 3 modules and an additional 1 day Sitting or Beach Volleyball bolt on module, and a final assessment.

    What resource will I receive?


    All candidates will receive a high quality resource file to support the qualification. This will include an induction pack and a coach handbook to support the core learning outcomes along with a candidate pack which contains all of the assessment tasks.


    What will I learn?


    At the conclusion of the course, this award will enable a coach to:

     

    • Have knowledge and understanding of the core coaching skills
    • Be able to plan and deliver sessions including warm up, cool down; fundamentals, postural control and ball handling
    • Have knowledge and understanding of game flow situations including attacking, defending and transition
    • Have knowledge of service and service reception

    Go Spike Activator Award

    This is a new role created by Volleyball England aimed at increasing the number of 16+ playing recreational volleyball on a weekly/regular basis.  The Activator can run sessions anywhere at any time; university, college, leisure centre, beach courts, parks, at work, youth centres and community groups.  Where there is suitable space indoors or out volleyball can be played. An Activator engages people to play though challenges and adaptive games.

    Who is the Activator Award for? 
    The Activator Award is suitable for:

    Upskilling a volunteer, current player or coach to become an Activator and faciliate Go Spike sessions. The Activator role can enhance what a club already offers to recruit new recreational members through providing a lower cost Award course to upskill workforce and offer a structure for recreational sessions that hasn’t before been available through Volleyball England.
    The Activator may have a coaching background but the role is to facilitate activity not ‘coach’
    The Activator role offers a taster into what leading a volleyball session may involve. Activators may choose to step on to the coaching pathway to understake a UKCC Level 1 course


    What does the Award course cover?

    The Go Spike Activator Award course will cover the following themes:

    1. What makes a good Activator?
    2. Activator Session Planning
    3. STEPs Principle (Space, Task, Equipment, People)
    4. Practical: Challenges and Adapted Games
    5. Where next and participant retention
    6. Understanding Marketing and Administration
    7. Buy the end of the Award Activators will be able to:
    8. Facilitate and lead volleyball activity with participants new to volleyball – or those already playing recreationally
    9. Enthuse people to build confidence, engage them and sustain their participation
    10. To set up and run regular sessions; meet and greet participants and provide a social and welcoming atmosphere
    11. Introduce volleyball shots and rules

    The Activator Award course is 4 hours long and costs £70.00 per candidate with each candidate receiving the following:
