The British Sitting Volleyball team travel to Rotterdam this weekend to take part in the European Championships. The tournament which has organized by the ECVD ( in conjunction with the Netherlands Volleyball Association, will see 19 teams competing in either the men’s or the women’s competition.
Chief Executive of Volleyball England Lisa Wainwright said, “We are really excited with the team of staff and the players that have been selected for the tournament. The GB teams are going there to compete against the best in Europe and push for medals. They are also getting some great competitive experience and building the team for the future which is important for us. This is the first tournament for the men since it was announced that the BPA had granted them their host nation place at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, and it’s important they build on the performance at the Continental Cup in July, as they prepare for the Games next year. It’s also paramount for the women’s team, as they make final preparations along the performance pathway for confirmation from the BPA to secure their place also in 2012. Good luck to both squads”
