Lynx Take First Home Win of the Super 8 Season 16/17
31st October 2016
London Lynx claimed their first three points of the 2016/17 Super 8s season with a 3-0 home win against Solent.
The East London team took the lead in the first set thanks to a good service run from setter Adrian Machowicz (6-0). Solent reacted and closed the gap but were still three points behind at the first technical time-out, trailing 8-5. More Lynx pressure from the serving line, this time with Mohammed Sliti , extended the home team lead at the second technical time-out (16-11) before closing the set (25-17) after unforced errors from Solent.
Lynx made some changes in the second set and Solent started well, taking a 3-0 lead. Some powerful hits from Ben Sileka and Yassir Sliti got Lynx back in front (8-5 and 16-13) but Solent came back with a good service run (16-17) before Lynx took back control of the game and won the set 25-20.
The home team made more changes in the third set with Gary Slade and John Withman making their debut with the club. Lynx started well (4-0) but Solent did not give up (8-7). A strong serve from Sileka, MVP at the end of the match, gave Lynx a 16-12 lead at the second technical time-out. Joel Mutero tried to keep Solent into the game but again, as in the first sets, too many unforced errors gifted Lynx the set, the match and the three points 3-0 (25-17; 25-20; 25-19).
