Nominations taken for new Board Directors
27th June 2017
With Volleyball England’s Annual General Meeting due to take place on July 29, nominations are being taken for seven Director and workstream lead roles on the organisation’s Board.
This process follows the successful search for independent Directors which took place last month. Nominees for this next wave of Board roles must be affiliated to Volleyball England (VE) – as a player, coach, referee or club administrator – and can include people who have been actively involved with the organisation previously.
Of the seven roles, two have become vacant as the current incumbents reach the end of their terms. These are the Coaching Lead and Competition Lead.
The other five roles are all new roles, created as part of VE’s governance overhaul, designed to bring it in line with Sport England’s code of governance.
These roles are:
- Technical Lead;
- Children and Young People Lead;
- Director of Inclusion, Diversity and Human Resources;
- Director of Public Relations and Communications; and
- Director of Insight and Research.
As well as having an impressive professional track record relating to the role they are interested in applying for, candidates are expected to have the ability to help develop and maintain VE’s strategic focus. They will need to be able to make a commitment to VE, attending Board meetings at least four times per year and leading programmes of activity in their specialist area. They will need to have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak their mind.
Each of these roles requires specific skills as outlined in the relevant job description. These are available, along with the nomination and application forms, as part of the AGM Notice Pack which you can download here.
The Board’s Nomination Committee will review all applications against the desired criteria. Only those who meet those criteria will be eligible to appear on the ballot papers at the AGM.
