Business of sport: Sponsoring the Showpiece Event
6th March 2018
Volleyball England are actively pitching three of it's most prestigious events to commercial partners. They are the Inter Regional Championships, the National Cup Finals and the National Volleyball League - they have been chosen as it is believed these would be some of the most appealing competitions in the current volleyball calendar to potential sponsors.
Business Articulations - which express the value of a partnership for these events - have been produced for all three competitions. Last week saw the release of the Business Articulation for the Inter Regional Championships - one of the best attended Volleyball England events and a celebration of junior volleyball. You can download a copy here.
Now, the Business Articulation for showpiece event in the indoor season - the National Cup Finals - is out. The document is available to download here.
The National Cup Finals
The National Cup Finals is a special weekend with eight matches - all of them finals. The pinnacle of knockout volleyball in the English game, takes the headline spot on the Saturday as the men's and women's National Cup Finals are played in front of a bumper crowd.
Teams enter the National Cup from all over the country, from the faraway corners of the North East to the South West, and from different levels of the game. For teams who play in regional or local leagues, it's a chance to test their mettle against sides from the National Volleyball League and overturn the odds to realise just what is possible. The best sides in the country often make the final as they're desperate to land the cup and enjoy a day out on the biggest stage. This year, the finals sees four of the best teams in the country - all from the Super 8s with squads including England internationals and players with profesional experience - go head to head.
For the teams which exit the National Cup in the early rounds, there is still a second shot at Finals Day glory. They go into a Shield competition and the finals of the men's and women's competition are battled out on the Saturday, before the National Cup Finals.
On the Sunday, the future stars of volleyball take centre stage as the Under 18 and Under 16 National Championships reach their finale.
With hoards of spectactors and lots of interest online - coverage of the 2017 event gained traction of over 29,000 in reach - there is a multitude of ways in which Volleyball England could work with a commercial partner to maximise the benefit to both parties.
This is just a snapshot of the potential of the National Cup Finals - read the Business Articulation to find out more about this far-reaching appeal of the event and what makes it so special.
