Name the new top division!
28th March 2018
From next season, the Super 8s divisions will be expanded to ten teams - see the full story here. This means the top league in English volleyball needs an impressive new name, so we're asking for your help!
Today we're launching a competition to find the new title of the highest level in the men's and women's game. We want your suggestions for the new name and the best will be shortlisted with a public vote deciding the official name!
The person with the winning suggestion will not only be able to claim the honour of naming the league but will also receive a bundle of prizes including a London 2012 volleyball and a Volleyball England t-shirt.
What do you think the name should be? No League McLeague Face (reminiscent of the Boaty McBoatface news story!) type of suggestions please! Any names which include numbers - such as Super 8s - will not be accepted. Bear in mind that we are looking for a sponsor, so the name should allow the sponsors name to appear before or after it. The terms and conditions for the competition are stated below.
So get creative and you could have the honour of naming the pinnacle of English volleyball! Email your best suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline of April 16, 2018.
The shortlist will then be put together and a public vote launched. The brand new name of the top division will then be revealed after the poll closes on May 7, 2018 - the day after the Super 8s Playoff Finals.
Terms and conditions: Individuals can enter as many name suggestions as they wish. In the event of the same name being suggested by more than one person, the individual who emailed first will be classed as the winner, should that name be chosen. When the shortlist is formed the candidates who were first to suggest each name will be emailed to inform them that their suggested title is in the poll. Once the final name has been decided, the winner will be sent their prize. Individuals can only enter if they live in the UK. Entrants data will only be used for the purpose of this competition.
This competition is being run by Volleyball England and cannot be exchanged for its monetary value and there is no cost to the winner to receive their prize. The competition organisers reserve the right to select the name of the division, even if this is not the winning name in the poll.
