Beach volleyball gets its Blue Peter badge

Beach volleyball is to star on the iconic children’s TV show Blue Peter this Thursday.

More young people will get the chance to be inspired by beach volleyball as it features on the show on Thursday 20th September 2018 at 5:30pm on the CBBC channel.

In the episode, presenter Radzi Chinyanganya takes on the challenge of learning to play the game. He has some good coaches as England junior stars Javier and Joaquin Bello were on hand to share their top tips and put Radzi through his paces on the sand. The twins also chatted about reaching next month’s Youth Olympic Games and their own volleyball careers.

As always in Blue Peter, which is the longest-running children’s TV show in the world and currently airs on the CBBC channel on Thursdays at 5:30pm, there is a final presenters challenge to see how their skills are shaping up.

Radzi went along to the Volleyball England Beach Tour (VEBT) event at Yellowave Beach Fest in Brighton to face off against England’s Commonwealth Games pair Jess Grimson and Vicky Palmer. After chatting with the ladies about their exploits on the sand too, all four athletes received their iconic Blue Peter badges!

To find out how Radzi got on against England’s number one women’s pair, you will have to tune in on Thursday or catch up on BBC iPlayer.
