Entries open for U15 National Championships

Entries are now open for the National Under 15 Championships.

Affiliated schools and junior clubs – who can become Volleyball England member clubs for free – can now register by signing up online for the competition by the deadline of Friday 7th December.

The championships will begin in January with the preliminary round which is open to teams of novice ability and is a great chance for girls and boys of all abilities to gain competition experience in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Having adopted a similar format to the U16 and U18 National Championships, the higher ranked teams enter the competition in the following rounds. This means teams enjoy lots of matches at their ability level with the best teams rising to the top over the five rounds: preliminary, round 1, round 2, last 8s (including quarter and semi-finals) and final.

The first three rounds are ideal for new or novice teams as they are organised locally and regionally to try to keep travel to a minimum for teams. They are also played in a round robin format meaning players get more matches and more fun! So there are no long trips across the country to get hammered in one knockout match.

So why not enter your club? Getting the buzz of competitive volleyball without too much pressure might help ignite your players’ passion for the sport and turn it into a lifetime hobby.

The best junior talent

While the National Under 15 Championships is a great experience for players of all abilities, it is a prestigious title to win with a high standard of volleyball.

Many of the best young players in the country play in the Under 15 National Championships and the finals are often a great battle between the powerhouses of junior volleyball.

Last year saw Richmond Volleyball Club take the girls’ Under 15 title, while Boswells were crowned champions in the boys’ competition.

This year the last 8s, which will incorporate the quarter and semi-finals, will be played at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering before two teams in each of the girls’ and boys’ competitions will advance to the finals.
