Volleyball England statement on Storm Dennis

We’ve received a number of queries regarding travel advice this weekend with Storm Dennis set to cause severe weather in parts of the country.

Our advice, as set out in the regulations, is that teams should make every effort to play their fixtures whilst taking responsibility for their own safety.

If a team feels they are unable to complete a fixture, they must ensure they have professional and independent evidence – for example: reports from the Met Office, public transport companies or the hosting venue that describe adverse conditions, warn against travel or notify of venue closures.

They are also expected to call and email their opponents, the referees, and relevant Competitions Working Group Divisional Lead as soon as possible, while also agreeing on a date to reschedule the match.

The information above is based on Regulation E 9 from the National Volleyball League Competition Regulations.
