Would you like to join the National Volleyball League?
11th March 2020
Entries have now opened for new teams to apply to join the National Volleyball League for 2020/21.
The league is England’s premier competition for volleyball clubs and comprises of the Super League, Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 for men and women.
Should an application to join the NVL be approved by the Competitions Working Group, the new team would enter the pyramid system in Division 3 from September.
Jon Moore, Competitions & Events Coordinator, said: “If you want to test yourself against the country’s very best volleyball teams, there really is no better place than the NVL.
“More than 130 sides compete in 15 divisions across the country, from the reigning English men’s champions IBB Polonia London to NVL women’s newcomers Urmston Grammar Volleyball, and we’d love to welcome even more teams for next season.”
To successfully apply to join the NVL, new teams must meet certain conditions, such as:
- Proven experience of at least 1 season in a recognised regional or area league
- Affiliation to Volleyball England for at least the last 2 seasons
- A qualified and registered coach in their ranks
- Evidence of referee development
- Commitment to play from at least 10 of their players.
A £100 goodwill deposit is required along with an application form. This money is returned if the application is unsuccessful.
In addition, teams must pay a league entry fee while their players must pay a registration fee. Both fees will be confirmed by the end of May, but for the 2019/20 season, the costs were as follows:
- League entry fee for Division 3 teams £254 (due upon acceptance of entry along with completed NVL entry form)
- Player registration fee – Seniors £36 or Juniors (U18) £23 (we require at least 8 players to be registered by 31st July).
Application forms to join the National Volleyball League – which include the full criteria – can be found by clicking here. Requests must be submitted by Thursday, 30th April 2020.
If you have any further questions, please get in touch with the competitions team: email@example.com.
Note: This process is for new clubs only. Existing NVL sides will renew their membership over the summer.
Edit: The requirement for handwritten signatures has been relaxed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, clubs are advised to gather email confirmations from the relevant individuals that include: their name, club position and the following: "I have read [name of document] and agree to the conditions." These confirmations should be emailed with the application. Please send applications via email and not in the post as, for the foreseeable future, we will not be picking up the post.
