Dedicated volunteer sought for key Commonwealth Games role
22nd May 2020
Volleyball England and Team England are searching for a dedicated beach volleyball champion to volunteer as the sport’s ‘Team Leader’ for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
This key individual will lead and support the beach volleyball teams and should therefore be able to operate effectively in demanding and high-pressure situations.
Reporting to the Chef de Mission and the Commonwealth Games England support team, the Team Leader will be an integral part of:
- The build-up to the Games in terms of information gathering and dissemination, administration, and management for the sport.
- During the Games as a crucial team member for daily organisation, motivation and management of their sport and Team England.
- And after the Games as a participant in the overall Team England evaluation.
The successful candidate will receive support from the Hub team. Reasonable expenses will be covered by Team England. Please note that this role demands a significant commitment of days – including long and unsocial hours – and therefore anyone expressing interest will need to consider whether they have the time and potential flexibility from their employer to carry out the duties. We estimate this could be as much as 47 days of work between October 2020 and September 2022.
To apply for this rare opportunity and help to make a difference to English volleyball on an international level, email an expression of interest to email@example.com before the closing date of midday on Thursday, 18th June. Please use ‘Team Leader vacancy’ in the subject line and summarise in no more than 500 words why you are the perfect candidate for this role, outlining how you will ensure you’re available to fulfil the duties too.
Candidates will be shortlisted the following week with interviews taking place via video call on either Tuesday, 30th June or Wednesday, 1st July.
