Student Cup: enter your team now!

One of the highlights of the student volleyball calendar, the Student Cup, is all about having fun and taking part. But of course, there are still the ultimate bragging rights for the teams that lift the trophy. 

Last year, Bournemouth University got the double, winning the Student Cup trophy in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions. 

Entries are now open for the 2-22-23 Student Cup Qualififers. All University and College volleyball teams from England, Scotland and Wales are able to enter the student cup. See the regulations for full details. 

When are the events? 

There will be 5 Student Cup Qualifiers, which will all take place in November. Teams will be able to pick their preferred venue for their qualifier. 

• 1 qualifier in Leeds 
• 2 qualifiers in Kettering 
• 2 qualifiers in Dorking 

Depending on entries, teams will play in pools of 4 or 5. Teams will play between 3 and 4 matches over their 1-day qualifier. 

The Student Cup Finals will then be held at the University of East Anglia in February. The 16 finalists will be as follows: 

• 1 previous winner (2021-22) 
• 1 previous runner up (2021-22) 
• 1 Student Sport Ireland Reigning Champion 
• 7 group winners from qualifiers 
• 6 best next placed teams from qualifiers* 

The finals will take place over a weekend with the pool matches taking place on the Saturday and the knockout phase on the Sunday. 

At the end of the Sunday, 1 Men's and 1 Women’s team will be crowned Volleyball England Student Cup Champions! 

How do I enter? 

Teams and players that want to compete need to enter via VolleyZone by the 21st October 2022. View the VolleyZone guides for the team entry process here and the player entry process here. 

It costs £103 per team to enter the qualifiers, £206 per team to enter the finals and £11 per player. 

*Teams will qualify for the finals on a points average basis taken across the second placed teams from the pool groups played in the qualifying rounds.
