The squads will fly out to Slovenia with their coaches on Monday. Will McDonald will be coaching Isabelle & Lisa and Przemek Soczewka will be coaching Enrique & Peter. The teams will get some all-important training in on Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for the competition, which starts on Thursday 2nd September.

Iwona Grabon will be flying out with the teams as the head of delegation. Whilst in Ljubljana, she will be taking over our Instagram Stories to give the community an insight into the athletes’ competition experience. The CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship is the main European-wide competition in the calendar for athletes under the age of 18. After so long without competitions due to the pandemic, it’s fantastic to see Volleyball England’s junior teams starting to travel and play in major tournaments again.

The tournament will begin, for each gender, with a preliminary round of eight pools of four teams each, in a round robin format. There will then be a final phase with 24 teams playing in a single elimination format. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranked teams from the preliminary round from each pool will advance to the final phase.

Classification matches will be played by the teams eliminated from the quarterfinals to determine the 5th and 7th positions.

The bronze medal match will be played by the losers of the semi-final matches, while the winners of the semi-final will compete for the gold medal.

The competition will be streamed live on EuroVolleyTV, for those with a subscription to the platform.
