LimbPower Games 2025 a popular taster for sitting volleyball

Potential sitting volleyball players of the future had the chance to experience the sport this weekend as part of the LimbPower Games.

By creating opportunities for participation, LimbPower helps individuals discover and reach their sporting potential, with the flagship event designed to be inclusive, supportive and empowering.

Far more than just a sporting event, the Games serve as a vital part of the rehabilitation journey for many amputees.

They offer a safe and welcoming environment where participants can try out a variety of sports and physical activities, often for the first time since their amputation or diagnosis.

The Games help those involved in several key ways:

  • Physical Rehabilitation: Engaging in sport helps improve strength, mobility, and overall health.
  • Emotional Support: Being surrounded by peers with similar experiences fosters a sense of community and belonging.
  • Confidence Building: Trying new activities and achieving personal goals boosts self-esteem and motivation.
  • Pathway to Sport: For those interested, the Games can be a stepping stone to more competitive or regular participation in sport.

Ben Richards, of Lincoln Imps Sitting Volleyball Club – who play in the Volleyball England Sitting Grand Prix – helped delivered the sitting volleyball sessions at the Stoke Madeville Stadium.

He said: “Tom Middleton and I have had the pleasure of working with LimbPower for many years, delivering sitting volleyball sessions, one of the highlights of our calendar.

“The energy is always incredible, with participants throwing themselves into the game, often leading to some friendly, but fierce, competition!

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce a sport that many may never have considered before. For some, moving freely around the court without prosthetics or wheelchairs can be a truly liberating experience.

“Over the years, we’ve seen Paralympic athletes discover their passion at LimbPower events, and we’re excited to think of how many more will find their sport in the future.”
