Referees are an extremely crucial element in the development of indoor volleyball, beach volleyball and sitting volleyball throughout the country at all levels. Refereeing is challenging, rewarding and above all, great fun.
Becoming a match official provides you with an array of opportunities: making new and lasting friends, travelling to new locations, and being a part of some world-class, hotly-contested volleyball action are a handful of many.
Referees are not only the closest onlookers to the enthralling action happening during a match, but also yield the highest authority on the court. With no two matches being alike, every match presents you with fresh, new challenges that equip you with skills, such as confidence and decisiveness, that are applicable in everyday life.

Referee Uniform

The Volleyball England Referee range is available from KMD ltd.
If you require a shirt that does not fit with the size guide shown please email with your size requirements.
The new shirt (both short and long sleeve are acceptable) is the uniform for Super League and Division 1 and all referees without a current shirt.  All referees will be expected to be using the new uniform by the end of this season if refereeing in the National League / Cup.  All old styles remain acceptable in Regional / Local competitions.

Let's Talk Rules!

'Let's Talk Rules!' is series of webinar-style sessions from Volleyball England to discuss rules of the indoor game.
Each talk includes a review of the rule in question - as well as associated rules - the referee guidelines and casebook, a discussion of a scenario using a match clip and the opportunity to ask questions. The rules are explained by Nick Heckford, Volleyball England's Officials Working Group Lead.
