Bellos to represent England at U22 Championships
12th May 2021
Javier and Joaquin Bello will represent England at the U22 Beach Volleyball European Championships in Baden, Austria, this week.
For the Bellos, it will be the fifth consecutive week of flying the flag for England at an international competition after playing at three FIVB 4-star events in Cancun, Mexico, followed by the Continental Cup in Izmir, Turkey.
Building on some great performances in recent competitions, England’s No. 1 Men’s pair will be looking for some good results against their age-group rivals in Europe. Now aged 20, this will be the final U22s for the Bellos too.
At last year’s U22 Championships, Javier Bello played alongside Freddie Bialokoz for England because of a late injury to Joaquin Bello. Javier and Freddie played against some very strong teams – including the now double reigning U22 champions Gusev/Shustrov – but showed great character.
The actions begins today, on 13th May, against their Pool B rivals: Luini/Immers (the Netherlands); Gusev/Shustrov (Russia); and Reiter T./Hammarberg (Austria).
