Remaining British women and SideOut guests confirmed for Queen and King of the Court London Showcase

The remaining three pairs of British women who will play in the Queen and King of the Court London Showcase on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st September can now be confirmed.

English pairings Kirsty Star and Alice Jagielska and Jess Grimson and Molly Quinn will be joined Scottish duo Katie Barbour and Rachel Morrison at the event, which will be staged at Canada Square in Canary Wharf (E14 5AH).

Also confirmed to play are the guest pair representing hosts club SideOut – Aga Adamek and Eszter Nagy.

Two more international pairs – which will complete the line-up for the women’s side of the competition – will be announced soon.

Star, 24, secured a top 10 finish on the Beach Pro Tour Futures event in Coolangatta Australia earlier this year and was also part of the team to represent England at the Nations Cup in Madrid in May.

She was born in the UK, grew up in California and is now based on the South Coast in Bournemouth, where she is studying for a Masters degree.

Hammersmith-born Jagielska, 17, has proven herself to be one of England most talented young players both on the sand and indoor.

Playing alongside Quinn, she won the NEVZA Youth Beach Championships 2024 in Bridlington at U18 and the pair also represented their country at the CEV U18 and U20 European Championships.

Jagielska was also part of the SideOut Polonia team to win the National Cup Final 2024, where they beat Durham Palatinates in the final.

Grimson, 33, from Leeds, flew the flag for England at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games alongside Daisy Mumby.

Prior to that, she was a regular on the Beach Pro Tour with Mumby and also the World Tour in partnership with Victoria Palmer.

Grimson’s experience has been paired with the youth of Quinn, 15, another talented teenager who combines beach in summer with indoor in winter.

As mentioned previously, she won the the NEVZA Youth Beach Championships 2024 title alongside Jagielska and has gained valuable match time internationally at U18 and U20 level.

The Devon-based player also appeared for the South West in the indoor Inter-Regional Championships in May.

Barbour, 28, and Morrison, 26, are regular competitors on the Beach Pro Tour, the UK Beach Tour and other events in Scotland.

They represented their country in the Nations Cup in Croatia in June and have played Futures events this summer in the likes of Warsaw, Brno and Madrid.

Adamek, 33, hails from Poland and has won several UK Beach Tour 4* and 5* events over the last five years playing alongside Italian Giulia Rastelli, who now plays on the Beach Pro Tour.

Nagy, 35, has represented Hungary in international competition and was a runner-up in the Hungarian National Championships in 2020.

She has played on the UK Beach Tour for many years and has recently been playing on the national circuit of Spain.

Both Adamek and Nagy have been members of SideOut for 10 years, but have played together for the first time this season and hope to continue that into next, both in the UK and Spain.

The four freshly-announced pairs join a stellar list of names – both international and British – who have already confirmed their involvement in the QKOTC London Showcase.

In the women’s section, Marie-Sára Štochlová (Czechia) and Sunniva Helland-Hansen (Norway), Lithuanians Ieva Dumbauskaite and Gerda Grudzinskaite and New Zealanders Alice Zeimann, along with American-based Brits Anaya Evans and Katie Keefe, are all flying in to play.

In the men’s section, Mees Sengers (The Netherlands) and Tim Brewster (USA), Austrians Felix Friedl and Alexander Huber and Estonians Mart Tiisaar and Dmitri Korotkov are the confirmed international pairs, with Javier and Joaquin Bello, Freddie Bialokoz and Issa Batrane and Enrique Bello and Josue Seekings the British teams entered.

Overall, there will be 20 teams (10 women, 10 men) who will line up for the event. Follow the Volleyball England news pages for the remaining QKOTC player announcements over the coming days.
