Champions crowned in dramatic end of season spectacle

Champions crowned in dramatic end of season spectacle

After a 2-year absence, Cup Finals marked its triumphant return to the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering, on 23rd and 24th April for the deciding matches in the Cup, Shield, Junior and Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix competitions.

Richmond stole the headlines by winning not 1, not 2, but 7 of the national finals " an outstanding achievement for the club.

In total, more than 700 tickets were sold across the weekend. All of the matches were live streamed too, racking up more than 15,000 views and plenty of excitement, buzz and chatter online.

With plenty of drama and entertainment on court, an interactive matchday programme, unique mementos courtesy of studio takethatphoto and much, much more, the National Volleyball Centre was buzzing all weekend.

Sue Storey, CEO of Volleyball England, said: "What a weekend! So many fantastic displays of volleyball with a brilliant atmosphere. A huge thank you to the army of volunteers as well as the referees, coaches, supporters and staff that helped to make it such a special occasion. Lovely to finish my time at Volleyball England on such a high."

Adam Walker, Chair of Volleyball England, said: "Cup Finals was spectacular. With the crowd cheering them on, there were so many twists and turns and dramatic moments between teams on court. Every team should be immensely proud of making it to the national final. A special congratulations to the winners and of course to Richmond for winning a magic 7 trophies.

"The Board were in attendance and were delighted to see the continued development of Cup Finals. New features have helped to elevate the experience for fans courtside and also those watching from home.

"Cup Finals would not be possible without our volunteers, who continue to blow me away with their dedicated and passion. A special thanks to them for making this all possible."
