Bello Brothers headline inaugural Cornwall event

Men’s number one-ranked British pair Javier and Joaquin Bello are set to compete in the first King and Queen of the Bay event at Watergate Bay Beach in Cornwall, hosted by Deep Dish Beach Volleyball.

The event will run from this Friday (13th September) to Sunday (15th September) and will feature top talent from both UK and overseas.

On Friday, Deep Dish will be offering ‘give it a go’ seasons to local schools and colleges, while Sunday will be dedicated to community engagement.

The tournament itself will get underway on Saturday and a strong line-up is expected to provide some terrific entertainment.

The Bello brothers have established themselves as a formidable force in recent times and are now ranked as one of the top 25 teams in the world, with four straight British Championships, a Commonwealth Games bronze, six World Tour medals, and a fifth place in their European Championship debut just some of their achievements.

Freddie Bialokoz, who plays on tour with Issa Batrane and is part of the Deep Dish Team, is another who is set to be in attendance.

He recently celebrated his first Beach Pro Tour win in Canada and represented England at the Nations Cup, and a recent silver medal at the Queen & King of the Court tournament in Utrecht has further solidifying his reputation as a rising star.

They will be joined by Harry Jones, a seasoned England international with plenty of silverware earned on the national and world stage, including victory at the Weymouth Grand Slam in July. 

Representing the women, Martha Bullen will comes into the event with national and international experience representing her country at many tournaments as a junior and beyond.

New Zealand’s powerhouse duo of Alice Zeimann and Olivia MacDonald - who will play in the Queen & King of the Court London Showcase on 20th and 21st September - will bring their impressive international credentials to the event.

Both having made a significant impact on the world stage, with Ziemann narrowly missing out on qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics Games.
