Aligning with inflation
Explaining how the new fees have been set for the 2025-26 period, Strategic Manager for Get. Keep Grow (maternity cover), Hema Choudhary, said: “It’s worth noting that the 4.5% increase ensures membership fees remain aligned with inflation, as per Volleyball England’s Articles of Association.
“By doing this, it enables us to maintain the quality and breadth of services we provide to the volleyball community.
“Another factor we have taken into account is the broader economic pressure placed on organisations and businesses across the UK in recent months.
“Government-mandated increases in National Insurance Employer contributions and the National Minimum Wage have raised operational costs, while many of our suppliers have also increased their prices, directly impacting the cost of delivering services.”
“Volleyball England will continue to absorb the costs of Junior and School/ Further Education Institutions Club affiliation, making it free for that category of clubs.”
Changes in the Volunteer player category
For the first time, volunteer membership will incur a small charge and Choudhary added: “While registering for free membership on VolleyZone has always come at a cost to Volleyball England, we’ve previously absorbed those expenses internally.”
"In line with rising costs as detailed above, we have introduced a £5 fee for the volunteer membership category to ensure we can maintain system maintenance, administrative support and service delivery to those members."
Club admin access will continue to be free, and system updates have been made so that committee roles can be updated on a Club VolleyZone Account without needing to purchase the £5 Volunteer membership.
However, any volunteer wishing to access resources, VE Learning or DBS services will now need to hold a £5 Volunteer membership.
Changes in the adult and Junior - regional/local category
If you are entering the National Cup or National Shield in the 2025-26 season and are not registered on VolleyZone in any other category, you will now need to register as a player in the regional/local category at the minimal cost of £5.
If you are already registered on VolleyZone, including any Volleyball England categories or local or regional association categories (such as the LVA), then you do not need to register and pay again.
Regions or counties that manage their memberships through VolleyZone, along with their leagues or competitions, should note that the £5 fee will not be applied to their memberships. Instead, they can continue to set their own fees.
Affiliation and membership timelines
The club affiliation renewal will launch on 2nd June 2025.
The individual registrations will launch on 16th June 2025.
Further communication around the opening of these windows will be sent out in due course.
