Role vacancies: Competitions Working Group

The successful applicants for the two posts available will be keen to play a leading role in further strengthening the portfolio of the organisation’s competitions.
As well as sitting on the Competitions Working Group, they will also be part of the Senior Competitions Group focus area, as detailed in (1) below.
Role background
A vital part of The Game Plan strategy is how Volleyball England aims to work collaboratively to deliver and continuously improve the products and services that most benefit clubs and the wider communities within volleyball.
With this in mind, in 2024, the organisation outlined a new five-year vision for the National Volleyball League that would reduce calendar congestion deliver a consistent league structure and drive-up standards throughout the league.
The Competitions Working Group, overseen by Simon Cowie (Competitions Delivery Lead), is structured around four areas of focus and responsibility, for which they are accountable to the Ace Service Sub-Group. They are:

Senior competitions (four people): Providing in-season advice and guidance; maintaining standards; dealing with rules and regulation compliance; dispute management; overseeing and supporting senior events; and alignment with the officials working group.

Junior competitions (two people): Providing in-season advice and guidance; maintaining standards; dealing with rules and regulation compliance; dispute management; and overseeing and supporting junior events.

Transformational change (four people): Providing advice and guidance around implementation of the NVL five-year vision; development and professionalisation of the Super League; digital innovations; expansion of the junior competitive pathway; and longer-term competition planning.

Regional and local league connectivity (two people): Strengthening relationships between the NVL and the regional and local league providers and supporting and managing the process of teams entering and leaving the NVL.
