Both the women and men’s teams had to wrap up well amid cold and wet conditions, with the competitions played outside before the action moves inside for the weekend’s main event at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. (Full details here).

At SideOut, eight women’s teams were in contention for the official qualification tournament spot.

It was former and current Team SideOut Polonia indoor players, Abby Russell and Anna Rantala (pictured above, middle), who secured their ticket after taking first place.

Runners-up were Charlotte Morgan and Gabriele Balysevaite, while third were former Essex Rebels teammates and Super League duo Kathea Schamblin and Alexis Diaz-Infante.

Deep Dish pre-qualifiers

Over at Deep Dish, the qualification tournament spot was just as fiercely contested.

In the end, Harry Jones, who played NEVZA Beach England for the host country this summer, and Dalton Bunde (pictured above), playing for London Giants in Super League this season, emerged victorious.

Beaten finalists were Richmond Docklands’ Ivo Dobra and Endi Ymeraj, while Joost van den Bogert and Haydn Lawson, who has played for England on the beach and indoor, were third.
