New era for Leicester Athena after Huncote move

New era for Leicester Athena after Huncote move

Leicester Athena Volleyball Club have moved into their new permanent home at Huncote Leisure Centre for the first time.

The special occasion was marked by an event organised by partners Blaby District Council and gives the club the chance to consolidate and expand their offering, having previously been spread across three different venues.

They can look forward to playing on a new floor installed by Men's Super League sponsors DYNAMIK Flooring, which includes positions where posts can be anchored.

“This is a fabulous opportunity for us as a club," said Founder and Hed Coach Paul Kaerger. “To have all six squads under a single roof allows us to build a real club identity. It allows us to share ideas, support each other and build something stronger.”

“I’m hoping it will allow us to grow, for instance, allowing us to reach younger players and host Junior Grand Prix.”

“The players who turned up for this first session were really excited by the facilities, not just the court itself but the gym and other areas too.”

The project is an excellent example of how a number of partners - Blaby District Council, Everyone Active, Sport England, the East Midlands Volleyball Association, Huncote Community Library and DYNAMIK - have come together to turn a vision into reality.
