Have you been Inspired by Rio 2016?

If you’ve been watching the Paralympics in Rio and been inspired to try out a new sport, then there are fantastic opportunities for you to play sitting volleyball across the country.

People with and without a disability can play the sport in club environments as well as competing in the Volleyball England Grand Prix. There are currently opportunities to play regularly in:

  • Barnet
  • Canterbury
  • Chelmsford
  • East London
  • East Sussex
  • Lincoln
  • Manchester
  • Portsmouth
  • Sheffield

There are new clubs being established all of the time so if you are interested in playing then get in touch with Rich Stacey-Chapman who will be able to keep you updated with future opportunities.

If you have a disability and would be interested in taking the sport more seriously then the Great Britain programme are currently looking for new players. Sitting Volleyball Futures is a new initiative to recruit new sitting volleyball players who may not have experience in the game, but who demonstrate the attributes identified as key to the sport. For anyone interested in being involved, there are two national testing events that are taking place soon:

  • Saturday 24th September – Dorking
  • Saturday 15th October – Kettering

To find out more about the initiative or to register to attend an event, please visit the Sitting Volleyball Futures webpage or contact Rich Stacey-Chapman. Please note, registration for the first event closes on Friday 16th September.
