IBB Polonia Make History in Europe

London club, IBB Polonia London made history yesterday by making it through to the next round of the CEV Challenge Cup.

Following a 3-0 (25:21, 25:18, 25:20) defeat on 6 December to Hungarian side FINO Kaposvar SE in the first leg, Polonia came into this game as the underdogs, needing to turn around the 3 set lead held by their opponents.

The home side, Polonia, were playing their match in Belchatow, Poland, home to PGE Skra. They won the first two sets and looked like doing what seemed to be impossible but FINO Kaposvar were not going to make this game easy and took the third set, putting the pressure back on Polonia.

The London side took that pressure head on, they fought hard and won the fourth set, forcing the game to a fifth 'Golden Set' to decide who would go through to the next round.

With huge support from Polonia and PGE Skra fans alike, a confident Polonia, played their hearts out and took the Golden Set 15-10, to take the match and make history by progressing through to the next round of the cup.

The team take a well-earned break over the festive period before returning to action in the Super 8s on 14 January, away to Wessex.
