Surrey hosts NEVZA Women's Club Championships next weekend
8th November 2019
In a year which has seen international beach volleyball back in London and the Champions League volleyball come to England for the first time, this weekend holds another treat for English volleyball fans.
The finals of the North European Volleyball Zonal Association (NEVZA) Women’s Club Championships come to Egham in Surrey from Friday 15th November to Sunday 17th November. Fans can head along to watch for free!
The action will start on Friday from 16:00 to 23:30 at Egham Orbit Sports Hall (Vicarage Road, Egham, TW20 8NL). While the finale on Saturday (10:00-18:30) and Sunday (13:00 -18:00) will be at ACS Egham International School sports hall, located on London Road, Egham (TW20 0HS).
There will be a home favourite to cheer on as Polonia Ladies Volleyball Club will battle five other top teams from Denmark and Sweden for the coveted title. The teams are:
Brondby Volleyball Club (Denmark)
Team Koge Volley (Denmark)
Oslo Volley (Norway)
Randaberg Volleyball (Norway)
Polonia Ladies Volleyball Club (England)
The NEVZA Club championships attracts excellent teams from the European zone and offers international competition for teams which are not at CEV Champions League level. Last season, IBB Polonia London won the NEVZA Men’s Club Championships – a landmark moment for an English team to win a European title.
It will be a similarly brilliant achievement for Polonia Ladies to take the title as they will face quality opposition. Team Koge Volley and Brondby VK currently lie 2nd and 3rd in the Danish Women’s Volleyball League. While Randaberg are top of the Norwegian Women’s Elite league, with Oslo chasing in third and ToppVolleyNorge in ninth.
