Would your team like to join the National Volleyball League?
23rd April 2021
Expressions of interest to join the National Volleyball League for the 2021/22 season have now opened.
As part of preliminary planning for the long-awaited return of England’s premier volleyball league, interested teams that were not set to take part in the cancelled 2020/21 season are asked to contact the Competitions Team.
The NVL comprises of the Super League, Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3. There are separate pyramid structures for men and women, with new teams joining at the bottom of the pyramid.
Preparations for the re-launch of all Volleyball England competitions have recently stepped up a gear after a series of positive developments in the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Secretaries of existing NVL teams have been contacted separately as part of this early stage of planning.
Rob Payne, Strategic Manager (An Ace Service), works closely with the Competitions Working Group to deliver Volleyball England competitions. He has taken over from Jonathan Moore, who joined Birmingham 2022 on an 18-month secondment.
Rob said: “Playing in the NVL, the highest level of domestic competition, will give you an unrivalled volleyball experience.
“With more than 130 sides competing in 15 divisions across the country, the competition is fierce. In 2019/20, some 2,150 players competed in the league, a diverse group that represented 45 different countries.
“NVL regulations and requirements for gameplay, coaching and officiating also continue to raise the standard and quality of the game.
“And right at the top in the Super League, the champions can take that one step further as they earn the right to represent England in Europe.
“After an extended period without our beloved sport, the NVL may just be the challenge your team is looking for in the season ahead. We have big plans for next season and look forward to sharing them in the months ahead.”
New teams looking to join the NVL are asked to email email@example.com with the name of their team, whether it’s a men’s or women’s side, and the location of their playing venue. The deadline for expressions of interest, which are non-committal, is Wednesday, 19th May 2021.
