National junior competitions: entries are now open!

Schools, colleges, and junior volleyball teams can now enter Volleyball England’s new-look junior competitions for 2022.

Back bigger and better than before, the U15s, U16s and U18s competitions have been restructured into two tiers of Grand Prix-style events to create a level of competition that is ideal for new or inexperienced teams while also creating competitive playing opportunities for the country’s most talented junior athletes.

This new format will see the competitions switch to three Grand Prix events per age group, per gender rather than a knockout-style cup. Each Grand Prix will be an isolated competition; however, the results will contribute to an overall standing.

These changes have come about through feedback from past entrants and balancing playing opportunities with cost and travel.

With a surge in junior volleyball being widely reported across the country, already over 100 teams have an expressed an interest.

TIER 1 EXPLAINED

Summary: Perfect for the more established junior teams who would typically reach the last eight stage in previous editions of Volleyball England’s junior competitions. The highest ranked two teams after the third Grand Prix will go head-to-head on Cup Finals weekend (23-24th April 2022) to see who wins the trophy.

Location: Teams must be prepared to travel nationally to locally hosted events to maximise competitive opportunities. Grand Prix 3 will be hosted by Volleyball England at the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering.

Cost: £30 per event for the first two Grand Prix, £65 for the third which is hosted at the National Volleyball Centre, and a one-off play registration fee of £5pp. All processed via VolleyZone. The entry fee includes a hosting fee within the price, with that going directly to the host.
