What's happening at the Beach Volleyball Development Centres this 2025 summer... 

Here is what will be happening over the next few months at some of the venues, which are spread across the country.

Deep Dish CP

DEEP DISH (CRYSTAL PALACE) 

Opportunities to get involved 

Deep Dish Crystal Palace says it is flying back into the Summer season with a bigger and better offering than ever before. 

Included in the offering will be Kids Holiday Camps (every school holiday, five to 18 years and a Junior Indoor and Beach Volleyball Club for the same age group. 

 

What to expect 

Kids' Holiday Camp take place at their urban beach and in the sports centre, with two types of camp. 

 The Fun Camp is for ages 5 to 14 and features beach games, puzzles, arts and crafts, talent shows and non-stop beach fun 

The Development Camp is for ages 14 to 18 and is beach volleyball camp focused on developing as players. Click here for more information.  

Alongside this, the Deep Dish Junior Club is an exciting, inclusive volleyball club for juniors aged five to18, open to everyone, with no prior experience needed. 

Training groups run for U8, U12, U16 (performance & development) and under 18 players. Term three runs from 22nd April to 20 July 2025. Click here for more information. 

 

Key dates and activities 

Deep Dish have released their UKBT Summer Tournament schedule with over 50 events this summer, from 1 star to 3 star tournaments across their three venues (Crystal Palace, Bournemouth & St Albans).

Fireball

FIREBALL (KIDBROOKE) 

Opportunities to get involved   

The centre has sessions for all ages available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to7pm, as well as free open play games sessions on Friday evenings from 5pm to 7pm. 

  

What to expect  

Fireball is an open, friendly club and tries to support players from all backgrounds. 

They have a bursary programme to help support those who need financial support to be able to attend training. Anyone interested in joining can join our Spond group here. 

 

Key dates and activities 

Several Junior UK Beach Tour events scheduled, on 11th May, 31st May and 21st June and players will also be competing at the UKBT National Junior Championships in Croyde in August. 

The centre has several hopeful England athletes competing for spots on England teams this year and is therefore organising internal tournaments within the club, with dates for these to be confirmed.

RICHMOND 

Opportunities to get involved 

Richmond Volleyball offers opportunities for young players from the age of 5 to 18, beginners to advanced, to take part in weekly training sessions – there are 28 junior training sessions per week in total. 

While the centre’s main beach season is between April and September, there is also the offer of junior beach training sessions throughout the year to those that want to continue playing on the sand during the autumn and winter. 

 

What to expect 

Young people can join in training sessions, junior matchplay sessions, tournaments and holiday camps throughout the spring and summer. 

The winter beach training sessions have offered new players on the indoors waiting list an entry to the club and to get introduced to the sport, while also helping existing members who wish to play beach volleyball alongside indoor volleyball a chance to keep their sand legs over the winter months.

  • Weekly (Saturdays) - Junior Matchplay and King/Queen of the Court competitions. Older and advanced juniors are encouraged to participate in 1 to 3 star UKBT events detailed here). 
  • 1st June - Richmond Junior Grand Prix 1. 
  •  20th July - Richmond Junior Grand Prix 2. 
  •  7th and 8th June - UKBT Club Championship (Sandbanks) 
  •  2nd and 3rd August - UK Junior Beach Championships (Croyde) 
  • TBC - BVDC Championships. 

 

Skyball venue

SKYBALL 

Opportunites to get involved 

The Yorkshire centre plays on Bridlington’s golden sands. From beginners to competitive players, all are welcome at the North’s volleyball hub. 

What to expect 

The centre is a passionate community of players, coaches and volunteers united by a love of beach volleyball. FIVB and Volleyball England certified coaches, offer expert training and a welcoming environment for all skill levels during the April to September season. 

Bridlington beach hosts irregular training sessions, competitive matches and social events throughout the summer months. 

This year, there will also be the chance to watch the NEVZA Youth Beach Championships 2025 on Belvedere (South) Beach from Tuesday 25th to Thursday 27th June, which returns after a successful event last year.

  • 22nd and 23rd June Northern Open - 4 star double gender beach volleyball tournament.
  • 19th July – North England Mixed Open. 

 

Sideout Leyton

SIDEOUT (LEYTON) 

Opportunities to get involved  

Boys and girls aged eight to 18 are welcome to train, play and compete in beach volleyball in a fun, safe and supportive environment. 

The junior programme is led by experienced coaches and blends enjoyment with top-quality training. Young athletes build friendships, improve fitness, develop technical and tactical skills, and—if they wish—can progress to compete locally, nationally, or internationally. 

The centre is proud to be home to the current U13 British beach volleyball champions and are actively working with local schools and councils to expand access to the sport. 

 

What to expect 

SideOut offers two weekly coached sessions, divided into Development and Performance groups, ensuring players receive appropriate support based on their age and skill level. 

Beyond coached training, juniors can also join All You Can Play sessions – friendly, supervised games open every Wednesday, Friday, most Sundays and some Saturdays. 

All young athletes become members of the club, helping to build a strong sense of community, belonging and long-term engagement with the sport. 

 

Key dates and activities 

SideOut hosts beach volleyball tournaments for boys and girls aged eight to 18 throughout the season at Leyton. 

These include both two-a-side and four-a-side formats across U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups, welcoming players of all skill levels.

  • Regular intervals – In-house tournaments to help young players build their competitive experience in a supportive environment. Advanced juniors are encouraged to compete in UKBT 3-star adult tournaments hosted by the club over the summer for valuable match experience at a higher level. 

 

Sandbanks

WESSEX 

Opportunities to get involved 

Wessex Beach Volleyball Development Centre operates from April to September, with the majority of the programme being delivered at Sandbanks Beach. 

There are weekly sessions available across a wide range of ability and interests. This means there is something for everyone, whether you are a complete beginner, a regular social player or a committed competition player.  

Those who are keen to develop their game will have the opportunity to work with a performance group to improve their playing and match skills. 

In addition, there are qualified coaches who will support your pathway and make sure you are gaining the correct experience to improve your game. Players on this pathway will be invited to additional sessions throughout the season. 

 

What to expect 

A local school festival will introduce new players to the game and the regular training sessions will provide a follow on for those who wish to pursue the game.  

Regular competitions will be arranged at different levels to enable everyone to put their skills into practice. These will vary from small informal competitions during training to internal full tournament events 

Coaches will identify the correct competition pathway for more advanced players, including national and international opportunities for the most committed individuals.

YELLOWAVE 

Opportunities to get involved 

Yellowave offers weekly term time beach volleyball clubs, kicking off at age five years old, with age categories up to 18.

The Yellowave Academy creates a pathway for the most talented athletes to progress in the sport on a national level. Senior squad and above receive twice weekly training, end of term progressions reports and awards, along with guest coaches, plus free court time. 

 

What to expect 

The centre offers school holiday taster sessions, mini tournaments and a city-wide secondary school tournament, as well as fun, seasonal activities throughout the year. 

Yellowave link with local schools from primary through to sixth form with BHASVIC College now offering a beach volleyball academy programme at A-Level as part of their educational programme – one of, if not the first, in the country.
