Chief Medical Officer becomes New Vice President of the College of Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine

Volleyball England are delighted to announce the success of our Chief Medical Officer, Dane Vishnubala, new role as Vice President as well as Professor at the Univeristy of Leeds for the College of Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine (CSEM).

The CSEM aims to champion excellence in sport, exercise and musculoskeletal medicine through education, research, and professional leadership. It represents the coming together of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine into a single, unified organisation. 

Reflecting on his appointment, Professor Vishnubala said:

"My vision for the College is shaped by my own journey in sport and exercise medicine - a journey enriched by inspiring mentors, the joy of teaching, and a deep sense of belonging in our community. For more than a decade, I've been fortunate to give back through designing, leading, and delivering educational programmes that support colleagues, particularly those in the early stages of their SEM careers.

"Creating spaces where people can connect, share challenges, and celebrate successes is extremely important to me. As a Professor of SEM at the University of Leeds, with educational leadership experience across the NHS, the private sector and higher education, I am passionate about ensuring high-quality, accessible learning opportunities are available at every stage of a career.

"In a challenging medical landscape, it's vital that doctors at all levels have a voice within SEM, and that we continue to foster international collaboration. We thrive when we are connected, supported, and feel truly at home in our College. I look forward to working with collleagues to make that vision a reality."
