Three Head Coach appointments for Talent Zones confirmed

Pete Makowski (North), Richard Guest (Central) and Lukas Dorer (London and East) have been confirmed as Head Coaches for three of the new Volleyball England Talent Zones.

They will take up their roles in September ahead of the start of the 26-27 indoor season.

The Talent Zones are new hubs which will give promising junior athletes earlier access to national-level training and development with fewer geographic and financial barriers.

They will sit just beneath the U18 national teams and are designed as entry points into the England Talent Pathway, acting as bridges from clubs, schools and regional development programmes.

Makowski is a familiar face to many in his position as Head Coach of Leeds Gorse’s DYNAMIK Super League side and is also Co-founder and Chair of Skyball Beach Volleyball Club in Bridlington, which will help facilitate the staging of this year’s maiden Beach Pro Tour event in England.

Guest is a coach at Newcastle Staffs and has been involved with the Talent Programme for a number of years, recently travelling to Italy with the England U18 Women’s squad.

Dorer coaches at South Hants and is also responsible for the South East Volleyball Association’s Under 15 Girls squad for the 25-26 season, with this being his first foray into coaching on the talent pathway.

A fourth coach – to head up the South and West zone (Sussex, Surrey and West) – has still to be appointed, with applications still open for those interested until 15th March.

Assistant Coach roles in all zones are also open for applications until the same date. You can find out more about those roles by clicking here
