Volleyball England supports mental health awareness month with partner Shoorah
As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, Volleyball England is proud to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing in sport through its partnership with digital wellbeing platform Shoorah.
In high performance environments, athletes are often celebrated for what they deliver on court, the powerful strikes, decisive blocks and match winning serves. However, behind every performance is an individual navigating pressure, expectations and the demands of elite sport.
Shoorah, a wellbeing and mental health platform designed to support individuals and organisations, is working alongside Volleyball England to strengthen support for athletes through accessible, everyday mental health tools. The Shoorah app provides users with a range of features designed to support emotional wellbeing, including mood tracking, guided wellbeing content, reflective journaling tools and access to supportive resources that encourage healthier habits and stronger mental resilience. Within sport, its Elite Athletes feature is tailored specifically to the pressures faced by high performance environments, helping players build awareness, manage stress and maintain balance alongside their training and competition schedules.

Lori Haines, Co- Founder of Shoorah said: " Athletes are expected to perform at their peak every single day but behind every powerful play is a person. With Shoorah's Elite Athletes feature, we're committed to supporting players' mental, emotional and overall wellbeing, not just during the game, but throughout their entire journey in sport and life."
The partnership reflects a growing recognition across sport that mental health is just as important as physical conditioning. By integrating digital wellbeing support into the sporting environment, Shoorah aims to make mental health care more accessible, consistent and proactive. By helping athletes check in with themselves as part of their everyday routine rather than only in moments of difficulty.
Volleyball England continues to place athlete welfare at the heart of its performance pathway, ensuring players at all levels have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
Mental health awareness month provides an opportunity to open conversations, reduce stigma and reinforce the message that no athlete is alone in their journey. Through collaborations like this one with Shoorah, Volleyball England is helping to shape a more supportive and sustainable future for the sport.
