Cup Finals weekend: schedule, live streaming and results

If you love watching volleyball, make sure you tune into one of the hottest events of the season – the Volleyball England Cup Finals.

Taking place this weekend, across 23rd and 24th April, some of the best teams in the country will go head-to-head in the National Cup, National Shield, and Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix finals. They will join the next generation of talent from the U18s, U16s and U15s National Championships in their respective finals in what is a packed programme at the National Volleyball Centre. In total, 22 teams will compete for a trophy in 11 thrilling finals.

Adam Walker, Chair of Volleyball England, said: “Top level volleyball, a roaring crowd, an electric atmosphere – our first Cup Finals weekend is going to be an occasion to remember.

“Thank you to the army of volunteers that have supported these competitions to date and to those who will help us to create an event to remember on 23rd and 24th April.

Schedule

Saturday 23rd April

10:30 – Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix Final (Court 2): Sitting Bucks vs South Hants 

Expect a fiercely competitive clash when these two sides go head-to-head. Neither has finished outside of the top 3 teams in the Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix series all season and each time they've faced each other it's been a tight encounter too - Bucks hold 3 wins, Hants 3 wins too. It's anyone's guess who will come out on top.

Result: 3-2 (25-7; 19-25; 20-25; 25-21; 17-15) to Sitting Bucks


10:30 – Women's National Shield Final (Court 1): Everton Belugas vs MK City 

First time finalists MK City and Everton have both had challenging routes to the final. The players will be determined to go one step closer and make history for their clubs.

Result: 3-0 (25-17; 25-17; 25-21) to Everton Belugas


13:00* – U16s Girls National Championships Final (Court 1): Richmond vs Urmston Grammar

The success of these two clubs' junior programmes can be seen in the number of Junior Grand Prix finals both have made. In the U16s Girls competition, Richmond has won each time these two sides have met, but can Urmston cook up something special for the grand final?

Result: 3-0 (25-10; 25-23; 25-10) to Richmond


14:00* – Men's National Shield Final (Court 2): Stockport vs London Aces 

For the fourth time in recent years, London Aces find themselves within the mix to lift the National Shield. For Stockport, the story is quite different. This is the first ever national final for this young, pioneering club.

Result: 3-2 (23-25; 25-17; 25-14; 23-25; 15-8) to Stockport


15:30* – U16s Boys National Championships Final (Court 1): Richmond vs Urmston Grammar

The third head-to-head between these two teams, but this fixture is the only one that counts now. On paper, Richmond have the advantage after taking the W in both encounters, but Urmston will take confidence from their past performances. On both occasions, sets have been decided by a handful of points and in their last clash Urmston became the first team to take a set away from the Londoners.

Result: 3-0 (25-17; 25-16; 25-22) to Richmond


17:30* – Men’s National Cup Final (Court 1): Newcastle Staffs vs Richmond Docklands 

A north vs. south clash of two English volleyball giants. Both clubs have a rich history of success, but neither club – at least in their current guise – has lifted the National Cup trophy before. Expect performances of the highest calibre.

Result: 0-3 (23-25; 19-25; 25-27) to Richmond Docklands

 

Sunday 24th April

11:00 – U15 Girls National Championships Final (Court 1): Richmond vs Volleyball Development Camps

Richmond have a perfect record going into the final - 10 games played, 10 games won. 20 sets contested; 20 sets won. Their closest rival VBDC have beaten all other challengers expect for the Londoners and will be looking for an upset come Cup Finals.

Result: 3-0 (25-21; 25-14; 25-14) to Richmond


11:00 – U15 Boys National Championships Final (Court 2): Richmond vs Urmston Grammar

These two English junior volleyball powerhouses go head-to-head in yet another Junior National Championships Final after securing their golden ticket at Grand Prix 3. Keep an eye on these prospects, you're likely to see their names in future finals too.

Result: 3-0 (25-17; 25-13; 25-22) to Richmond

 

13:30* – Women’s National Cup Final (Court 1): Durham Palatinates vs Polonia SideOut London

Sunday’s main event is another tasty north vs. south clash. Polonia SideOut have stormed to the final with an intact record. Durham Palatinates only dropped one set and that was against their Super League title rivals Malory Eagles.

Result: 1-3 (23-25; 25-27; 25-23; 18-25) to Polonia SideOut London


16:00* – U18s Girls National Championships Final (Court 1): Richmond vs Urmston Grammar

Richmond are unbeaten, while their opponents – the only side to take a set from them all competition – are ready to cause an upset after forming a ‘super team’ from two of the biggest youth clubs in the North West: Urmston Grammar and Tameside. This will be the final national championship for both teams who will now enter the adult game and winning will no doubt be the crowning glory of their successful junior careers.

Result: 3-1 (20-25; 25-12; 25-18; 25-17) to Richmond


16:00 - U18s Boys National Championships Final (Court 2): Richmond vs IBB Polonia Pro Volley

The atmosphere will be electric when these two London rivals clashed on court. Richmond are unbeaten without dropping a set while IBB Polonia Pro Volley only have the one blemish on their record. The higher stakes will no doubt bring out both teams’ best to create a volleyball spectacle.
