NVL Newcomers part ten - Birmingham City Volleyball

Birmingham City Volleyball have already proven they are a force to be reckoned with in the West Midlands, as shown by the results from last season, with the Men's first competing at the top end of the top West Midlands Volleyball Association division.
The league title came down to the final game against Tamworth Spartans, which went to a nail-biting, five set-thriller,where they sadly fell short and placed third in the league on set difference.
The Womens first team also underlined that the club is on the rise, going undefeated all season to win a top division and cup double.
It has convinced the club to make their first foray into national competition, where they hope to be just as competitive.
Head Coach Jack Roberts has helped to develop a determined and strong team, where the club are keen to push their players to the best of their ability.
“Our ambitions for our first season competing at this level are to win the NVL Division 3 Central division and progress into Division 2,” he said.
“We are looking forward to the high level of competition. We are a strong team developing fast and this is the next step in the club's development. We want a strong team to proudly represent Birmingham in the NVL.”
Partnering with UOB and Moseley Beach Volleyball, the club aims to provide excellent beach sessions and tournaments as well as being partnered with BCU to support and provide opportunities to play at a higher level.
This season, the team can look forward to competing in Division 3 Central where they'll be facing clubs such as Telford.
The club developed from 2 regional teams in 2022 when the club formed and has now grown to 5 regional teams in the top West Midlands division, made up of 3 Mens and 2 Womens.
The Men's 2 had an outstanding season where they got promoted to the top league as well as getting to the final of the West Midlands Shield.
The Men's 3s finished middle of the table in the bottom division, and the Women's 2s finished middle of the table as well as getting to the final of the shield.
Birmingham City Volleyball features many outstanding players that contribute to the fast developing teams that iam to represent Birmingham in the NVL.
“Dan Mrowiec is our captain, where he has played volleyball for over 20 years.
“He is also the head of Moseley beach volleyball and a coach on the deep dish tours.
“He is a versatile player and a great leader, so expecting big things from him,” said Jack.
Birmingham City Volleyball also features Marian Peters.
Jack added: “He pulls off wonder sets and will always do his best to deliver for the team.”
