New teams admitted to NVL for 2024-25 season confirmed

The six men’s and four women’s teams take the number in each of the sections to 80, with the expectancy it will reach the optimal 84 for the 2025-26 season.

The successful teams were chosen from 23 applicants following a thorough selection process that was defined by an NVL advisory group made up of a range of people from the league’s community.
There were four key areas that clubs were graded against – people infrastructure, team performance club infrastructure and facilities commitment to the NVL – and the clubs with the best scores will join the league from the autumn.

Those who did not secure a place this time have been given feedback on areas they can improve for any future application they may submit.
All clubs who applied, whether successful or not, have already been notified of their respective outcomes.
Volleyball England’s Strategic Manager for An Ace Service, Rob Payne, said it had been ‘extremely difficult’ to decide on the final 10 clubs.
“It was a very tight call because there was a really good level of applications, which is a testament to the strength of the teams,” he said, “but we had a process in place so that we could effectively measure how strong each team was.
“The Competitions Working Group came up with decisions based on the four areas recommended by the advisory group. We will support those teams who were not successful to further develop and be in a stronger position to secure a place in the NVL in future years, should they wish to reapply.
“We look forward to introducing the new teams ahead of the new season through features on each of them.”
