‘Plenty of guidance’ on new Safeguarding Children and Adults course

Ben Richards has become the first individual to complete Volleyball England’s newly-launched Safeguarding Children and Adults in Volleyball course.

The successful completion marks the latest significant milestone in the organisation’s continued efforts to enhance the welfare of participants in the sport.

Designed specifically for the volleyball community, the course forms part of a wider drive to ensure all coaches are equipped with volleyball-relevant safeguarding knowledge.

As of April, this qualification has become an essential component of Volleyball England’s coaching pathway and will no longer accept safeguarding certificates from the education, care, or health sectors, which don’t sufficiently address the unique dynamics of volleyball.

Reflecting on his experience, Ben shared positive feedback. He said: “I found the course easy to access and navigate, and like that you can complete it at your own pace. It provided a solid foundation for safeguarding within our sport.

One of the standout aspects for Ben is its emphasis on collective responsibility. “What I liked about the course is it makes you realise that safeguarding is not something that falls on one person's shoulders,” he added. “ There is plenty of support and guidance to help you.”

Volleyball England encourages all qualified coaches to take the course via the Volleyball England Learning platform by clicking here.

Once your account is set up, the safeguarding course can be accessed and purchased via the ‘My Courses’ section of the platform.
