Safeguarding course now available

As part of UK Coaching Week, Volleyball England is proud to highlight the Safeguarding Children and Adults in Volleyball.

As UK Coaching Week celebrates the theme of ‘embracing the importance of continuous growth and education to become a better coach, Volleyball England is proud to spotlight a vital step forward in coach development, the Safeguarding Children and Adults in Volleyball course, now available on the Volleyball England Learning platform.

This course is more than just a requirement, it's a commitment to creating a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone involved in the sport. Tailored specifically for volleyball, it addresses the unique dynamics of the game that generic safeguarding courses often overlook.

Ben Richards, Coach of Lincoln Imps Sitting Volleyball Club, was the first to complete the course. His experience reflects the course’s accessibility and impact:

“I found the course easy to access and navigate, and I like that you can complete it at your own pace. It provided a solid foundation for safeguarding within our sport.”

What stood out most to Ben was the course’s emphasis on shared responsibility:

“What I liked about the course is it makes you realise that safeguarding is not something that falls on one person's shoulders. There is plenty of support and guidance to help you.”  By completing this course, coaches demonstrate their dedication to the well-being of their athletes and the integrity of the sport. As of April 2025, this qualification is a required part of Volleyball England’s coaching pathway, replacing external certificates that don’t meet the sport’s specific needs.

How to Get Started:

Coaches can access the course by registering or logging into the Volleyball England Learning platform and navigating to the ‘My Courses’ section. Whether you're a seasoned coach or just starting out, this course is a powerful step in your journey of continuous improvement.
