Queen & King of the Court makes its indoor debut - in London!

Queen & King of the Court makes its indoor debut - in London!

For the first time ever, Queen & King of the Court will be played indoors – with London chosen as the host venue.

The iconic Crystal Palace National Sports Centre will be transformed into a unique beach volleyball arena on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November 2025.

Over two action-packed days, 20 of the world’s best men’s and women’s teams will compete for the crowns of London in an atmosphere filled with lights, music and non-stop excitement.

Olympic sand returns to London

This edition comes with a remarkable twist... the court will be built using the original sand from the 2012 Olympic Games.

The same sand that once hosted the world’s greatest beach volleyball players at Horse Guards Parade, including Olympic champion and now Queen & King of the Court reporter Julius Brink, will return indoors to set the stage for a new chapter.

It forms a powerful link between London’s Olympic legacy and the future of the sport, with this the most prestigious and spectacular international beach volleyball event in the capital since 2012.

A world-class line-up

10 high international men’s and 10 women’s teams will step onto the sand in London, all fighting for the crown.

The Queen & King of the Court format is a race against the clock: fast rallies, constant action and no time to relax. With the London crowd behind their local heroes, and international stars in the mix, the atmosphere will push the energy through the roof.

Crystal Palace

Where sport meets show

As always, Queen & King of the Court is about more than sport alone. Crystal Palace (pictured above at this year's Super League Final 4) will come alive with an atmosphere that mixes competition and entertainment.

With music, lights, food and drinks and surprises throughout the weekend, there’s always something happening.

Queen & King of the Court crown series in London is more than just matches on the sand, it’s an experience where sport and entertainment come together.

A new chapter for beach volleyball

Wilco Nijland, CEO and founder of Sportworx, the driving force behind Queen & King of the Court, said: “London is one of the greatest cities in the world, with huge potential for any sports event.

“Last year, at the showcase test event, we saw the strong demand for major live sports and the great crowds that came out and, after that success, we’re proud to return with an official Crown Series event.

“Since the 2012 Olympics there hasn’t been a big international beach volleyball event in London, so bringing back the sport on the Olympic sand is a beautiful new start.”

The sporting capital of the world

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan believes the event is a huge boost for the city and said: “London is the sporting capital of the world, so I am delighted that we are hosting the Queen & King of the Court next month, featuring some of the world’s top beach volleyball players.

“This will be one of the biggest international beach volleyball competitions in our city since London 2012, so it is fitting that the court will be built using the original sand from those Olympic Games.

“Crystal Palace National Sports Centre is undergoing a once-in-a-generation redevelopment with significant investment from City Hall, and it will provide a great backdrop for this event as we build a better, healthier London for everyone.”

A huge moment for volleyball in England

Volleyball England’s Chief Executive Officer Charlie Ford believes this event could be a seminal moment for beach volleyball in the UK.

He said: “I’m incredibly excited that, alongside SportWorx, Volleyball England is building on last year’s amazing Queen & King of the Court showcase at Canary Wharf by staging the country’s first-ever Crown Series event and the world’s first indoor edition of this thrilling format.

“It’s a huge moment for volleyball in England, showcasing the sport in a bold, professional light and giving both our top players and rising stars the chance to shine on a global stage.

“A heartfelt thank you to SportWorx for their continued partnership, energy and commitment to bringing world-class events to England. Their passion is playing a vital role in growing beach volleyball and inspiring the next generation.”

Showcasing world-class volleyball to London

Sandra Simoes, London Volleyball Association (LVA) chair, hopes that the event will help inspire the next generation of players and that people will come out to lend their support.

She said: "We’re thrilled to welcome Queen & King of the Court to London! Events like this showcase world-class volleyball, inspire our players and fans, and help grow the sport’s presence across our city.

It’s a huge buzz for our community and a celebration of everything we love about volleyball.”
