CEV General Assembly

CEV General Assembly

The CEV General Assembly was attended by Charlie Ford and Adam Walker over the weekend.

Saturday’s Annual General Meeting in Brussels represented an opportunity to review the latest achievements of European Volleyball in addition to planning the next few years and the challenges volleyball as a sport may face.

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić thanked everyone in attendance for their ‘trust and for the opportunity that I have been given to lead the European Volleyball family for two consecutive teams. I am proud to say that our sport is in a much better place than it was some years ago.’ He went on to say - ‘However, despite our achievements, we shall never rest or relax - but continue to work hard and strive for further improvement and excellence.’

In the afternoon the Northern European Volleyball Zonal Association (NEVZA) of which Volleyball England is a member, held meetings leading to productive conversations in relation to the future of NEVZA and its strategic focus. Volleyball England offered and was approved to undertake a review and present findings at a follow up meeting before the end of the year.

Adam Walker - Chair of Volleyball England spoke, saying - ‘With our recent leadership and strategy changes, the Assembly presented the first real opportunity to underline our intentions moving forward with CEV colleagues and other National Federations. In line with our Game Plan strategy, we are committed to increasing our presence on an international level by working closely with other federations primarily from a knowledge exchange perspective to advance all formats of the sport in England.’

The assembly was productive and allowed Volleyball England to communicate with other members with the intention of developing the sport.
