Kontopoulos appointed as BVF chair

He takes up the role with immediate effect and replaces Richard Callicott, who stepped down from the role last year. 

Kontopoulos is well-known to Volleyball’s communities as Head Coach of MAAREE Women’s Super League side, Team SideOut Polonia. 

He is the co-founder and CEO of SideOut, which has interests in Beach Volleyball, Indoor Volleyball and coach education.

Kontopoulos is also a Volleyball England Coaching Tutor and an FIVB Instructor (Indoor and Beach). 

“It’s a tremendous honour to have this opportunity and responsibility to contribute to the growth, development and success of all disciplines of our sport across the UK," he said. 

“I look forward to continuing to serve our sport in this new capacity and to collaborating with all the BVF's partners and stakeholders, as we take British Volleyball to new heights together.”

Volleyball England's Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Ford, said: “Volleyball England would like to congratulate Mark on his appointment with the BVF and we look forward to the two organisations continuing to work closely together.”
