Everything you need to know about our 2021 Club Conference

Funding, social media, building back stronger, junior development, and engaging communities will be the focuses of this year’s Club Conference.

Taking place at Volleyball England’s headquarters in SportPark, Loughborough, on Saturday, 24th July, the conference will bring together club members and volunteers from across the country to learn practical and pragmatic ways to develop and support their clubs.

The bumper day will begin at 9:30am and give attendees the chance to attend three different 50-minute workshops – which have been organised based on feedback from our recent Club Health Check Survey. After the sessions come to a close in the afternoon, our Annual Awards ceremony will take place, followed by our 2021 AGM - both of which attendees are welcome to attend.

Here’s an overview of each of the workshops:

FUNDING

What you will learn:

  • An overview of funding applications (timings, procedures etc.)
  • What makes an effective funding bid
  • Examples of successful bids
  • Sport England Small Grants tips
  • The key skills in writing a funding application
  • The partners and organisations that you could gain support from.

BUILDING BACK STRONGER

What you will learn:

  • How to assess the impact of COVID-19 on your club
  • How to identify the current health status of your club and areas of risk
  • Outline recovery strategies that can aid your club
  • Identify opportunities to assist your club going forward.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT

What you will learn:

  • Why you should introduce a junior section to your club
  • Methods for developing players
  • How to create the right environment for juniors
  • Financial considerations
  • Strategies to increase participation
  • Turning interest in to opportunity
  • Key links to make with external partners.

ENGAGING COMMUNITIES

What you will learn:

  • How to identify actions to improve your club's community engagement and increase participation
  • An understanding of the principles of community engagement
  • Explore the benefits of community engagement for your club and the community
  • Explore how your club can meet the needs of your local community and identify how to engage with them.

SOCIAL MEDIA

What you will learn:

  • How to maximise the potential of your social media channels
  • What social media channels to use
  • What to post
  • Tips for engagement
  • Staying safe online.

Tickets to attend, which can be purchased via VolleyZone, cost £50. Secretaries of affiliated clubs will have received a discount code for club members to use to book on at £35.
